Two elderly gentlemen are playing cards on Saturday evening just as they have done for the past 50 years.

 Gus, the elder, had been having problems remembering what cards were what, and usually needed help from his wife. At the end of the card game Red said to Gus, "You did very good tonight. You didn't need any help at all. Why is that?"

 Gus replied, "Why, ever since my wife sent me to that memory school, I haven't had any problems at all."

 "Memory school? What memory school?"

 Gus thought for a moment, "Oh, what's that flower that's red with thorns? A really pretty flower . . . "

 "A rose?" asked Red.

 "Yeah, that's it!" Gus turned to his wife and mumbled, "Hey, Rose! What's the name of that memory school you sent me to?"

Two Middle Eastern mothers are sitting in a cafe chatting over a plate of tabouli and a pint of goat's milk. The older of the two pulls a bag out of her purse and starts flipping through photos. They start reminiscing. ''This is my oldest son, Mujibar. He would have been 24 years old now'' ''Yes, I remember him as a baby'' says the other mother cheerfully. "He's a martyr now though" the mother confides. "Oh, so sad dear'' says the other. ''And this is my second son, Khalid. He would have been 21.'' ''Oh, I remember him,'' says the other happily, ''he had such curly hair when he was born.'' ''He's a martyr too'' says the mother quietly. ''Oh, gracious me . . . '' says the other. ''And this is my third son.  My baby. My beautiful Ahmed. "He would have been 18'', she whispers. "Yes" says the friend enthusiastically, ''I remember when he first started school'' ''He's a martyr also,'' says the mother, with tears in her eyes. A new teacher was trying to make use of her  Psychology courses.

 

She started her class by saying,

 

"Everyone who thinks they're stupid, stand up!

 

" After a few seconds, Little Johnny stood up.

 

The teacher said,

 

"Do you think you're stupid, Little Johnny?"

"No, ma'am, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself!"
